Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Mobido iOS app, the Mobido Android app, and the website at mobido.com. Mobido keeps a private record of your conversations on your phone. There is no Mobido account and no in-app purchase.

Who is responsible (controller)

The controller for personal data Mobido processes is the legal entity named as the developer on the Apple App Store and Google Play listings for Mobido. Until that entity’s registered address is published here, contact us at privacy@mobido.com. An EU Article 27 or UK representative will be named in this section if counsel determines one is required.

Adults only (COPPA and children)

Mobido is for adults 18 years or older. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. On first launch the apps ask you to confirm you are 18 or older. If you are under 18, the app does not continue and does not enable usage sharing.

Conversations you record may include other people, including children. You are responsible for lawful recording where you live. Do not use Mobido to secretly record children or to monitor another person. Mobido is not a parental monitoring or “spy” product.

If we learn that someone under 13 is using the app in a way that sends data to Mobido (for example Android usage analytics), we treat that as actual knowledge under COPPA: we stop further analytics for that situation where we can, delete usage data we hold for that device when asked, and tell the person Mobido is for adults. Email privacy@mobido.com.

What the iOS app collects

The iOS app does not collect personal data for Mobido. It has no analytics, no advertising identifier, and no tracking across apps or websites. Reported to Apple, that is Data Not Collected.

Conversation audio, transcripts, and summaries stay on the phone by default. There is no Mobido backend that receives that record. Downloading an on-device model from mobido.com fetches the model file only. That download is not a collection of your conversations.

Data stored on your device

Unless you choose a processor below, this information stays on the phone:

• Audio from an Omi wearable over Bluetooth, or from the microphone when you use Listen on the phone
• Transcripts, summaries, and chats derived from that audio
• The speech-to-text and summarization services you configure
• Credentials for those services, stored in the iOS Keychain or the Android Keystore
• Whether you passed the age gate (18+) and, on Android, whether you opted into usage sharing

The microphone is used to capture conversations when you Listen on the phone. You can decline it. Wearable capture uses Bluetooth instead and does not need the microphone. Bluetooth is used to receive audio from an Omi wearable you pair. Recording continues while the Mobido notification is showing, including when the app is in the background. On Android, if Listen After Phone Restart is on, a paired wearable can reconnect after a reboot without opening the app; the notification still appears. On Android 11 and below, the location permission is requested only so Android can scan for the Bluetooth wearable. Mobido does not read or send location.

If you enter a speech-to-text or summarization address on your local network, the app contacts that computer, and the phone may ask for local network access so it can. A public address uses HTTPS. A computer on your own network may use HTTP.

When audio or text leaves the phone

Audio or text leaves the phone only to a speech-to-text or summarization host you configure, and only when you use it. The app sends that audio or derived text only to the host you entered, with credentials you stored on the device. Mobido does not receive a copy. Those hosts are not Mobido sub-processors; they are services you choose.

That host may be third-party AI, such as a cloud speech or language service, or a computer you run yourself. You give permission by adding the service and using it. Remove the service to stop further sends. Read that host’s privacy policy before you send audio or text.

Generated text

Summaries and chat replies are generated and can be wrong. Mobido is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. Do not treat generated text as medical, legal, or professional advice. You can report a summary or chat reply from inside the app without leaving Mobido.

Lawful bases (GDPR / UK GDPR)

Where Mobido is the controller, we rely on these bases for EEA and UK users:

• Consent for Android usage sharing and for website analytics cookies (you can refuse and still use the app or site).
• Legitimate interests (or steps prior to a contract) for reading support and privacy emails you send us, so we can respond.

On-device conversation records that never leave your phone are not collected by Mobido. Transfers you start to a host you configured are under your relationship with that host.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, and to withdraw consent. For data on your phone, use More → My Data or uninstall the app. For analytics or email we hold, write to privacy@mobido.com. We aim to respond within one month. You may also complain to your local data protection authority (for example the ICO in the UK).

Android usage sharing

On Android only, you can choose to share usage data so we can improve the app. That share is the models used and the screens you visit. It stays off until you say yes. It does not include audio, transcripts, chats, or summaries. If you opt in, those events go to Google Analytics (Firebase). They are not sold, not used for advertising, and not used to track you across other companies’ apps. Mobido does not use the Android advertising ID. You can turn this off in Settings, which stops further collection.

Retention for analytics events follows the Google Analytics / Firebase property settings for the Mobido project (typically measured in months; ask privacy@mobido.com for the current window). Events may be processed in the United States. We use Google’s data processing terms and the EU–US transfer mechanism Google documents for Analytics (for example the Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses), as updated by Google.

The iOS app does not include that choice and does not send usage data.

This website and cookies

Pages on mobido.com may use Google Analytics (measurement id G-13RTV9TZ2D) to count visits after you accept analytics cookies. Until you accept, analytics storage stays denied (Google Consent Mode). Reject leaves the site usable. You can change your choice with Cookie settings in the site footer. This is the marketing website only. It does not receive conversation audio or text. The forum at community.mobido.com is a separate site with its own accounts.

Retention, deletion, and consent

Your conversation record stays on the device until you delete it. Mobido does not keep a server copy. There is no Mobido account to delete.

In the app, More → My Data removes audio, conversations, chats, and summaries. Wiping everything also removes stored credentials from the device. That is how you delete your data. You can email privacy@mobido.com if you want help doing it, including help with analytics deletion.

Uninstalling the app removes its on-device storage.

To withdraw consent for a processor, remove or change that service in the app. On Android, turn usage sharing off in Settings. On the website, use Cookie settings to reject analytics. Declining the microphone, Bluetooth, or local network permission limits the feature that needs it. The rest of the app remains available.

Security

Credentials use the platform keychain or keystore. Public processors use HTTPS. We do not claim an independent security audit in this policy.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. The current version is always at https://mobido.com/privacy-policy.
